From my blog...
What is Reiki?
Short explanation, Reiki ("ray-key") is an ancient system of natural healing. In Japanese, Reiki means Universal Life Energy or Life Force, and this system is used to transmit energy through the hands. Gentle and non-invasive, Reiki is a simple, natural means to relieve stress and promote balance, harmony and wellness.
How does Reiki help?
When the flow of the "Life Force Energy" is disrupted, weakened or blocked, emotional or health problems tend to occur. Imbalances can be caused from many situations occurring in our lives, such as: emotional or physical trauma, injury, negative thoughts and feelings, including fear, worry, doubt, anger, anxiety, negative self-talk, toxicity, nutritional depletion, destructive lifestyle and relationships, neglect of self and lack of love for oneself or others, from emotions that are not expressed in a healthy way...
Reiki is excellent for healing any physical, mental, emotional and spiritual issues of any kind and it gives wonderful results.
Here are Some Of The Reiki Healing & Health Benefits:
When we are relaxed, stress-free, we are able to restore our natural ability to heal.
Long term practice of whole-body Reiki will restore the general condition of the body. It will open the energy channels and this will allow the body to deal properly and naturally with stress and build-up toxins and cope with anxiety and depression.
When a person is in good health, regular therapy will increase the body’s built-in defenses. This will manifest itself as confidence and outward harmony in dealing with everyday events. The person will gain a positive outlook on life.
Reiki will also provide additional energy required to recover from illness.
A Reiki healing session can induce an extremely comfortable state of being that can bring alteration in the client’s consciousness.
If used with other natural therapies (meditation, crystals, aroma therapy, Bach Flower remedies, homeopathy, etc.) Reiki will reinforce their effect.
It can be used also as complementary therapy, because Reiki is truly a complementary care. It complements and enhances the health care the patient receives in the hospital, or from other health care providers.
Reiki healing complements Eastern and Western medicine and everybody can benefit from it. It is beneficial to the health of woman (even pregnant), man, children and it is also excellent to be used on animals (dogs, cats, horses), plants, water, etc.
Reiki healing energy is a tool for use at any moment, anytime, anywhere for on-the-spot stress release, pain relief and quick energy. And, can be provided either hands on or from a distance.

Yes! Children need to detox too. Probably 3 decades ago might not have been as prevalent. However, in today’s world with the many chemicals, and toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis, detoxing for children is needed just as much as for adults. Not to mention a pregnant woman carries many toxins in her body that are passed through to the baby. So children are already born into this world carrying those toxins in their little bodies. The United States has more chemicals and toxins than other countries as other countries ban hundreds more toxins, chemicals and even ingredients that the United States find acceptable to put in our food. There is so much more I could say about chemicals and toxins that it could be its own article. I like to refer people to the environmental working group (EWG) website for more information. There is section on the website called Skin Deep. This section allows you to look up just about anything you put on your body, from makeup, to lotions, hair products and more, and see the level of chemicals or toxins each product or ingredient carries. It also gives a rating and what parts of the body the ingredient can impact (e.g. respiratory, neurological, reproductive, etc.).
First a little high level break down in how toxins are excreted through the body. Water soluble toxins are excreted through the kidneys and out through our urine. And, fat soluble toxins through our liver, gas soluble type toxins through our lungs and our skin acts as a secondary to our stools and urine (liver and kidneys).
Probably the easiest way to help a child detox is through dry brushing. Now for children whose skin is more sensitive this can be accomplished with a simple face cloth (no hard rubbing is necessary… if you are making the skin red you are rubbing too hard). Focusing on the extremities allows you to keep the lymphatic system functioning. Since the lymph has no muscular function only body movement and skeletal muscular contraction can move fluid through the lymphatic system, dry brushing acts almost like a gentle massage to the area. So dry brushing is a great way to keep the lymphatic system flowing.
Exercising is awesome way to remove gas soluble types of toxins from the body through the lungs. This doesn’t mean you need to get your child out there running and doing heavy cardio like a drill sergeant. However, movement of the body that allows the child to breath with great breathes will help the body to eliminate those toxins through the lungs.
Try some yoga or qigong!
Now all of these are great, but not a replacement to a good diet as foods and supplements, even herbal remedies can help assist the body’s own natural detoxification. Before I go on, I want to stress how important it is to work with a nutritionist or a doctor of natural medicine and even an herbalist to be sure you are doing the right thing for you, your children and family. There are so many factors that only an expert can guide you to avoid other types of issues that can come from something as simple as allergic reactions, or contraindications with medications, and other herbs, and supplements. Certain plants, supplements, and herbs can help assist the body’s own natural detoxification.
All of these approaches need to work in tandem with each other. It’s important to start your child on a specific lifestyle of mind, body and spirit. Not saying that a child can’t enjoy a good cookie or a scoop of ice cream. There are wonderful recipes and foods that use good organic and real ingredients that taste yummy. Start an edible garden and see how fast your child starts enjoying food fresh off the vine or out of the ground. Nourishing our mind, body and spirit through food, touch and love is what will keep us healthy and raising our next generation to love themselves and the planet that helps sustain them.
So the point is enjoy life through mind, body and spirit. Create a lifestyle that works for you and your family!

All of these issues can be helped through the use of essential oils. My simple essential oil starter kit includes lemon, lavender and peppermint. All of these essential oils aid the body in balance that can assist in addressing various issues.
Lemon is great for building the immune system. Lemon has the properties of an antiseptic, antifungal, antioxidant, astringent, invigorating and refreshing. Also commonly used as a disinfectant and that’s why you will find lemon in many cleaning products. It’s not just for its wonderful smell!
If you need to relax or distress… reach for some Lavender. Not only can it help with issues of anxiety or as an antidepressant, it can help with burns, pre-menstrual conditions, lymphatic system and more. Lavender has natural antifungal, antihistamine, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, anticoagulant, regenerative and sedative type properties.
Just the aroma of lavender immediately induces a state of relaxation. Lavender and peppermint both come from the mint family. What can peppermint do?
Peppermint has the properties of an analgesic, antibacterial, antiviral, antispasmodic, and quiet invigorating. Probably the most common use is for digestion or nausea. What about for hot flashes, bronchitis, respiratory function, itchy skin, throat infections, varicose veins, headaches or migraines. Peppermint we have thought of as a great flavoring for many foods, however, when used as an essential oil can have many healing properties that can be used to help the body. That is why you find peppermint in many other products as it has healing properties from muscle aches to respiratory issues.
To learn more about essential oils and how you can incorporate, and use these oils in your everyday life. Set up a wellness consult, and receive a starter kit with instructions on how, when and why to use them for your needs.
Be Well!

Plants have been used for their healing properties for over 3,000 years. Herbs are used as teas, tinctures and salves, some plants are used for their healing properties from their oils topically or even ingested. Sometimes pulp or sap is taken straight from the plant such as Aloe to address various skin issues, such as burns.
Flower Essences was pioneered by Dr. Bach back in the 1930’s, which later became known as Bach Remedies. Dr. Bach was born in 1886 and studied medicine and it was in the early 1900’s where he became more involved with homeopathic and alternative medicine after serving as a medical officer in WWI.
Flower Essences falls under vibrational medicine, similar to other practices, for example Reiki, Aromatherapy, Qigong, and Chromo-therapy (color and light) to name a few. The basic premise is that these practices as well as others believe that all matter and energy in the universe vibrate at their own particular frequencies. It is believed that disease cannot exist in higher frequencies therefore, it is believed that disease or ‘dis-ease’ is cause by the disturbance in the flow of energy. And, so by using remedies that operate at a higher frequency disease or ‘dis-ease’ can be treated.
Why some people choose Flower Essences for their healing:
• Stress
• Depression
• Emotional Issues
• Addictions
• Motivation
• Emergency Situations
• Feeling Blocked
• Overwhelmed
• And, more…
Most Flower Essences are not designed for long term use, however, are there to help address certain times in your life that need some emotional healing. Long term emotional issues can lead to physical issues. Once you remove the emotional issues the physical issues go away.
If you are interested in treatments using Flower Essences, contact Natural Lee at 860-574-3572 to set up a consult. All sessions are completely private and protected under HIPAA privacy laws.

I’m not a Naturopath! I’m a Doctor of Natural Medicine with several decades of education and experience that I share with my clients.
As a doctor of natural medicine and integrative medical doctor I do not diagnose or treat disease. To do so would be to focus on symptoms and disease. We are not defined by our symptoms or our disease. Disease is just dis-ease in the body. In laments terms, there is a breakdown or an imbalance somewhere in our mind, body and spirit.
How did the symptoms or disease come about? Well it’s based on what is happening not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too. Knowing this we can take a holistic approach to bringing balance of mind, body and spirit into one’s life. Notice how I said ‘we’? It’s not me doing this it’s me helping you, to guide you in your own healing. This is a lifestyle change! There is no quick fix, only a path to balance. With this in mind I focus on integrative and natural approaches to overall health and well-being.
This approach is designed for everyone whether you have symptoms, dis-ease or going through treatments of any kind. It’s a commitment to a lifestyle changes on a journey to overall health and well-being.
Be Well… Stay Well!
